Artist Statement

I paint because I am deeply moved by the raw beauty and quiet power of the natural world. Through realistic oil painting, I seek to capture not just the physical likeness of wildlife, but the spirit, dignity, and presence of each animal.

Whether it’s the intense gaze of a great horned owl at dusk, the commanding strength of a grizzly, or the sure-footed grace of a mountain goat on a rocky ridge, I strive to honour these creatures and the wild places they inhabit.

My work explores themes of resilience, freedom, and our fragile connection to nature. I believe that by portraying these animals with care and respect, I can invite viewers to pause, to feel a sense of wonder, and perhaps rediscover their own relationship with the wild.

 Artist Bio

I’m a self-taught realistic oil painter living in British Columbia. I paint with great love and reverence for the natural world, hoping to honour the spirit, strength, and quiet beauty of the wildlife and landscapes that move me.

Drawing inspiration from the rugged mountains, forests, and coastlines of British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest, my work celebrates the wild souls that call these places home — from mighty grizzlies and soaring eagles to elusive wolves, sure-footed mountain goats, owls, and clever foxes. Through my paintings, I explore themes of resilience, freedom, and our deep connection to nature.

When I’m not in the studio, I love wandering the trails of the Elk Valley and Kootenay region with my wonderful husband, Brent and my camera in hand. These experiences in nature deeply fuel my passion, while I rely on high-quality reference photography to capture the fleeting details of wildlife.
