New Painting: Elk Valley Sentinel

High above the tree line, where the wind never stops.

A mountain goat stands majestically on rocky terrain, with a backdrop of dense pine forest under a clear blue sky.

This new painting of a wonderfully majestic mountain goat is the latest addition to my 'Wild Spirits of the Kootenays' series called 'Elk Valley Sentinel'. Using a beautiful photo reference from photographer Quinn Savatgy, I aimed to capture the glowing spectacle of life in the rocky mountain tops. Perched on small hill of shale and boulders, a mountain goat radiates in the golden glow of the setting sun. If you listen closely you can hear the whistling of the wind through the trees and the echoes of cracking shale and falling stones.

This oil painting was an absolute pleasure to paint, and it is available for purchase.
